  • East Germany (1990 merged with F.R.Germany to Germany)
  • Hejaz (1925 merged with Nejd to Hejaz and Nejd, 1932 renamed to Saudi Arabia)
  • South Vietnam (1977 merged with D.R.Vietnam to Vietnam)
  • South Yemen (1990 merged with Yemeni Arab Republic to Yemen)
  • Zanzibar (1964 merged with Tanganyika to Tanzania)

Dissolved federated states

  • Czechoslovakia (1992 to Czech Republic and Slovakia)
  • Federation of Central America (1922 to El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica)
  • USSR (1991 to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan)
  • United Arab Republic (1961 to Egypt under UAR name and Syria)
